Danica hadn't slept since her last night terror episode. It was hardly anything, two days without sleep and having to work. There was coffee, energy drinks and all the sugar her body and teeth could handle. It wasn't healthy but it was all she could do. She had worn makeup to help make herself look lively and cover up the dark circles that formed under her eyes. She stayed tucked in her office for the most part. Her earphones in as she listened to the music on her laptop while working on her work computer. She multitasked at work all the time, her laptop wasn't just for music. She had a lot of research on there as well as papers she was working on. There was an external hard drive attached to it to store information, contacts, pictures, reports, slide shows, notes, research papers, links and so on. She knew how to keep herself busy at work and at home. Her job went beyond the aquarium. She had a duty to the oceans and that meant getting petitions signed, bringing proposals before council members and city officials. She was no stranger to going to protests even. Her desire to do more than what was asked of her had grown more and more.
She had her own office with her name outside of the door. It was something she was rather proud of but it also gave her the incredible joy of not having to interact and be social with everyone. Of course she spoke to everyone and didn't skip lunch in the cafeteria with her co-workers. She was just able to close her door and not have to hear Susan in sales talk about the fight she had with her husband the night before. She wasn't even in the snake pit so to speak and she knew all the ins and outs of most of their lives; some of them had such big mouths and to the wrong people. Her head moved as song came on. She moved back in her swivel chair and turned to face the bookshelf behind her desk. She looked up, fingers going along the spines of books. She knew there was a certain book that had the perfect reference with what they were researching and she couldn't remember which one it exactly was. Pulling a book off the shelf and opened it in her hands. She skimmed through it, although it wasn't the book she was originally after, it did have some key points. Turning her chair around and sliding across the floor to her desk she kept the page open and began typing some referenced, citing the reference and using her own words. She could take anything and make it her own. She understood dry writing and was able to make it personable while still being professional. It was Saturday and the Aquarium had been long since closed. She closed the book and slid the headphones down so they hung around her neck. Her eyebrow raised as she looked up at the picture of a sea turtle swimming amongst the vivid colors of pink, purple, and yellow coral surrounded by the perfect shade of turquoise water. ”You won't tell anyone, will you?” Her eyebrows furrowed and shook her head. ”Listen I don't care what you and him talk about; it's none of my business.” Her shoulders shrugged slightly then gave a slight smirk. ”Alright but if you tell anyone; I'm going to make sure you get put behind a shelving unit.” She removed the earphones from the input jack on the side of her laptop, giving it a few minutes to move from headphone mode to speaker mode. She removed the headphones from around her neck and put them on a shelf close to her desk. First she remained in her swivel chair, only pushing it away from her desk and began spinning around and around. At first it was too the music but soon it turned to see how fast she could get her chair to spin around before she was flung from the thing. Her strength provided a great pushing off skill as she was able to turn so fast that everything that surrounded her turned into a complete blur. She slowed down and started laughing, letting her legs down until it was slow enough she could use her feet to stop the chair altogether. Her head spun, hair was wild and having gotten disheveled in the ride. She leaned forward as she began laughing hard, she kept laughing to the point it stung her abdomen muscles. There was nobody around but she kept laughing as if she heard the funniest joke. Her head rolled back, causing her body to hang over the back of the chair. She turned enough to see the turtle upside down. ”Silly turtle you can't fly!” Quickly she shot up and turned to look at the picture. ”Hey! I told you no judging” Her eyes widened and she looked at the picture in her book that was opened on her desk. ”Oh it wasn't the turtle it was you, huh?” She looked at the picture, ”my apologies.” She turned back to the image and sighed. ”There's only one thing to do with you.” She closed the book and stood up, returning the book to its spot on the shelf. Just then her body started to sway and her legs moved and soon enough she was twirling and dancing around her office. That only lasted so long before she was singing along with the songs. ”I want some face to face, just gimme that full embrace. What did i hear you say? That you will never ever let me go!” She jumped and moved her head so her wild hair was flying around her. She grabbed her phone and started texting as she moved around every inch of her office. She would have to leave eventually but not before she flew under water. She had a delirious, lack of type of energy that she needed to burn. There would be no sleep even after her swim and she was alone in her apartment; but there were hours to kill in the night still.
